"
According to church records he moved ‘thence to Ravensdale, Newry’, Ireland. The marriage register states that John was from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs.
John and Ann were married at St Mary and All Saints Church, Chesterfield [the church with the famous twisted spire]
by Rev. G. Bossley. The witnesses were Sarah Cooke and Sarah Malkin.

Ann's father was Rev. James Malkin, her brother was Robert Malkin, a wholesale linen merchant in Dublin. There is no record of the baptism of their children at Chesterfield. According to a letter written by a descendant, Catherine Moeran, John was a cloth merchant who settled in Newcastle, Staffordshire, where he married Ann. He died at age 99 yrs 3 mo. They had four known children and probably more."
